Martin Luther once said, There are three conversions necessary for every person: the conversion of the heart, of the mind, and of the purse. Thats a sound reminder to all of us that when we give our hearts to Jesus Christ we give Him everything that comes with them, and that includes our material possessions.
Our giving isn't just something attached to our worship of God, but its a vital part of our worship of God. In addition, our giving accomplishes some vital work in our lives: it invigorates our devotion to Christ, frees us from the tyranny of consumerism, provides an outlet for our compassion, and provides us the opportunity to prove that money is our servant rather than our master.
As we give toward this project, were not just investing in a building were investing in the souls of men and women, boys and girls, who need to know and experience Gods love for them. So my prayer is that well hear the words of Jesus to His disciplesFreely you have received, freely give (Matthew 10:8)and apply those words to our lives. If we do, well find our needs for this project more than adequately met, for the glory of God!
